Last 90 Days

My best friend, Rachel Hollis's Last 90 Day Challenge is beginning today. This challenge is to help you end the 90 days of a year in the same way that you would begin the beginning of a year. I know for me these are three most stressful months of the year- holidays, changing weather, Bo's birthday on top of our typical life. This challenge helps me remember to take care of my body and mind so that I can be the best version of myself. You can read more about the Last 90 Day Challenge here on the Hollis' website.

The challenge is all about the Five to Thrive. And to be honest, when I did the challenge a year ago, I was overwhelmed and discouraged from the beginning. But I can tell you a year later, I'm doing most of these things each day and I think that I am in a much better place than I was this time last September.

At first it was really hard for me to put these habits into my daily life, but I came up with some ideas to ensure that it happens EVERY DAY. The ideas in bold are what I actually do. I hope this helps you in to be a stronger version of yourself a year from now.

Get up an hour earlier that you normally do and use the time for YOURSELF

  • Write it in your calendar
  • Schedule what you are going to do
  • Go to bed earlier so you aren't as tired
  • Do something other than scroll social media.
  • If you can't think of something, use the sentence starter "If only I had more time, I would..."
Note: I had a less than 6 month old baby this time last year. I woke up 30 minutes early (I think)

Workout for at least thirty minutes

  • Go for a walk around your neighborhood ( love a good check mark in the planner)
  • Walk up and down your stairs
  • Listen to a podcast or audio book
  • Put it in your calendar
  • Find a workout class on YouTube (Here is my favorite 10 Minute Abs x 3)
  • Have an accountability partner
  • Do it the same time of day every day
Drink half of your body weight in ounces each day

  • Find as many water bottles, cups, containers, etc with water that you need to drink throughout the day. (You guys. I'm lazy apparently getting up to fill my water bottle is too much for me to do)
  • Set a reminder
  • Get a jug of water that fits all of the water that you need.
  • Drink one water bottle before you _____________ (for me this is drink any coffee)
  • Know your strengths and weaknesses (I love drinking out of a container without a lid that is supposed to have one)
Note: This is one that I am really working on this Last 90 Days. Because of that, I've been really analyzing my water habits to make sure that I am getting this done. Also, hello grandma tendencies. Analyzing water? Where has my life gone.

Give up one food category you know you shouldn't be eating
  • Give up a time of day rather than a category (I do snacking before and after dinner)
  • Be as specific as possible
  • Be as realistic as possible
  • Don't do something that is going to drive you crazy during the holidays.
Write down 5 things you are grateful for every single day
  • Do it at the same time everyday (For me this is when my computer is warming up)
  • Before opening social media or games on your phone
  • Have your notebook next to your bed
  • Think super small things that made you happy or smile today (recently on my list: text groups, hot sauce, and sweating during a walk, 👈this picture)

How are you going to start 2020 off on your best foot? You deserve to have be in a positive and strong place going into a new year. I can honestly say that I feel clearer and more prepared to face the world when I have done these five things. Also, I love checking things off when I have done them. There are a billion goal apps that you can download for your phone, write it in your calendar, or you can use this tracker like me. Whatever it takes, get it done.

How are you going to THRIVE going into 2020?

You've Got This!
